Airplane Choo Choo is a well-known and trusted pediatric feeding resource co-created by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the National Dairy Council (NDC). This resource includes recommendations for complementary foods that can be introduced to children at about six months of age through two years to help ensure adequate nutrition, encourage acceptance of a wide variety of nutritious foods, and set the stage for a lifetime of healthy eating habits.

After receiving a request from a pediatrician at a Minnesota Pediatric clinic, Midwest Dairy partnered with NDC to update this resource to translate it into Spanish. Checkoff worked to have this resource broken down into specific age categories and made into separate deliverables that could be shared in both English and Spanish. to help pediatric care specialists provide age-specific resources at well-baby visits.

The updated resources were shared with all Dairy Council registered dietitians across the federation and uploaded to the Dairy Checkoff Exchange. NDC will also share the full resource in Spanish with AAP and ask them to include the Spanish option on their HealthyChildren.org website.

Dairy foods help provide the nourishment needed for growth and development at the important milestone of infant and early toddler nutrition, starting now at six months to include yogurt and cheese. The Spanish translations will increase the reach opportunities of this trusted resource across the checkoff federation to Hispanic parents.
