In August 2024, Midwest Dairy partnered with Coborn’s Inc. to sponsor their Back-to-School Kids Cook at Home Virtual Class, presented on August 14 through Coborn’s online site. Coborn’s registered dietitian collaborated with Midwest Dairy to develop two delicious and nutritious dairy-centric “Back to School Bites” recipes for kids of all ages to prepare and enjoy. These recipes focused on simple, kid-friendly steps with everyday ingredients found at home.

The chosen recipes are a perfect, well-balanced snack for lunches or after-school snacks. They include:

Cottage Cheese Blueberry MuffinsCottage Cheese is the secret ingredient in this recipe. It provides an extra boost of protein, which helps kids’ muscles grow strong and fuels them as they run and play during the school day.

Apple Nachos with Greek Yogurt & Nut Butter DrizzleThis is a versatile recipe. Kids can swap out any fruit or toppings they like. The Greek yogurt gives kids the perfect mix of protein, healthy fat, and carbs to sustain their energy throughout the school day.

Nearly 80 kids pre-registered for the class, and 152 kids attended—almost double the participation registration numbers! The Facebook post reached 20,289 consumers and had 466 engagements.

This virtual cooking class generated 53,125 incremental pounds of milk, with the cottage cheese and yogurt categories experiencing positive sales growth during this August back-to-school online event. Your family can enjoy watching this recorded virtual class online, which currently has 4,034 subscribers.
