A Midwest dairy farmer has become a trusted voice across social media channels. Dan Vanteicher, a dairy farmer in Iowa, connects with thousands of followers via his smartphone daily; he currently has 736,000 followers on TikTok and 843,000 followers on Facebook.
Dan is a strong dairy advocate who currently milks 200 Holstein cows and earned a dairy science degree from Iowa State University in 2013. Because of his background and career, he has the opportunity to showcase an actual day on a working farm. Not only does he share his day-to-day activities, but he also interacts with his followers by answering questions and putting to rest myths about the industry across his social channels. Dan is known to add a little humor to some of his videos as well!
Recently Dan shared with Iowa Food and Project’s Fresh Pickings Magazine how important connecting with consumers via social media is when building trust. He admits social media and other users can be frustrating at times, but instead of letting it get to him, Dan has started posting multiple videos week after week to entertain and inform his followers and others about daily life on the dairy farm. Dan is constantly living by his motto of “Fact-Based Farming” and trying to give simplistic answers to those with questions.
