Checkoff organizations play a vital role in connecting agricultural producers with communities across the nation. Midwest Dairy recognizes the importance of maintaining a strong connection with our dedicated farmers. Recent state events have provided direct opportunities for engagement with farmers to share insights, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities. The events listed below, along with many others, are taking place throughout the year. Midwest Dairy is committed to attending these events to better understand checkoff needs and demonstrate the impact of farmers’ contributions.

Nebraska

Midwest Dairy participated in the 2025 Nebraska Dairy Convention at the Nielsen Community Center, engaging nearly 200 dairy farmers and advocates. The booth featured an interactive spin wheel sharing information on sustainable dairy nutrition.

To enhance engagement, Midwest Dairy staff hosted a Taste & Learn experience, where attendees could sample products such as Bakr Cookies, Dundee Popcorn, and Crafian Artisanal Toffee. These products, created by entrepreneurs supported by Midwest Dairy, highlighted the use of dairy ingredients.

The booth provided opportunities to connect with dairy farmers and network during lunch. This event supports farmers in Central Minnesota through educational programming, a trade show, and networking opportunities.

Farmers visited the Midwest Dairy booth to enter a drawing for an Undeniably Dairy swag basket and complete a survey regarding their interests in Midwest Dairy programs. Items from the Producer Service Center were also showcased, highlighting the offerings for the upcoming promotion season.

Kansas

Midwest Dairy participated in Kansas State Dairy Days on February 19 and 20. The meetings took place in Seneca and Whiteside, providing dairy farmers with a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest research from the university’s dairy department, presented by the staff researchers themselves.

This year’s topics included H5N1, Animal ID, prenatal calf care, recent changes to milk market orders, dairy reproductive protocols, and plans for dairy processing at the university. Participants also learned why their checkoff is focusing on engaging Gen Z.
